This structure commemorating the promotion of Pocheon to a city symbolizes the peace and reconciliation of a unified country. It embodies the Chinese character “川” meaning stream and “山” meaning mountain in implicit and dynamic form. It indicates the futuristic spirit of Pocheon preparing for the 21st century as the leading city for the unification of the country where nature and people are well harmonized.
Characters

The tomb and stele of Oseong (Yi Hangbok) are in Gasan-myeon. His commemorative rite is held in Hwasan Seowon (private academy). Hangeum (Yi Deokhyeong) was bon in Jajak-ri, Pocheon-eup. His commemorative rite is held in Yongyeon Seowon (private acacemy) in Sinbuk-myeon. As the noted wise men of Pocheon, Oseong and Haneum with big bright eyes guide children to have dreams and hope and arouse nostalgia in adults.
Flower

Siberian Chrysanthemum, the flower of Pocheon, is included in Compositae. It was found and named in Pocheon for the first time. It is the indigenous plant of Pocheon (scientific name: Chrysanthemum Zawadskii Herb). Its common name is “Siberian Chrysanthemum.” It is found around the Hantan River and Mt. Wunak. The spontaneous land is limited to a certain area and the number of chrysanthemums is not large. Therefore, protecting and preserving spontaneous land for the Siberian Chrysanthemum is required.
Tree

Pine tree couple is two pine trees entangled in each other that looks like a couple in conjugal harmony. It was designated as Natural Monument No. 460, “Pocheon Jikdu-ri Bubusong (a pair of weeping red pines in Jikdu-ri, Pocheon)” on June 13, 2005, by the Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea. It is estimated that they are around 300 years old. It is in 190-1, Jikdu-ri, Gunnae-myeon, Pocheon.
Bird

Mandarin Ducks, Natural Monument No. 327, live only in the class 1 water. This water bird is in Family Anatidae which lives mainly in Gwangneung Valley, Pocheon. They are likened to an inseperable couple in conjugal harmony. Onithologists say it is a good bird.
